About Nihonium

Built for people whose income doesn't follow a predictable line

Nihonium began as a response to a simple observation: traditional financial planning tools are built around salaried, nine-to-five assumptions that don't reflect how a growing share of professionals actually earn. We set out to build something that does.

From a shared frustration to a dedicated platform

Nihonium was founded by a small group of people who had each spent years working across freelance contracts, agency gigs, and remote consulting roles. Every budgeting app and planning spreadsheet they tried assumed a fixed monthly paycheck — and none of them accounted for the gaps, seasonality, and client churn that come with variable income.

Rather than force irregular earnings into a tool designed for regular ones, we built a platform from the ground up around volatility itself — treating fluctuation as the default, not the exception.

Today, Nihonium is used by remote professionals who want a clearer, data-backed view of their financial stability, without pretending their income looks like anyone else's.

Nihonium workspace where the platform is designed and maintained

Give variable earners the same clarity salaried workers take for granted

We believe financial stability shouldn't depend on having a fixed paycheck. Our mission is to translate irregular income patterns into clear, actionable signals — so freelancers, contractors, and remote professionals can plan with confidence instead of guesswork.

  • Clarity over averages

We avoid flattening income into misleading monthly averages. Instead, we surface the patterns, dips, and risk periods that actually matter for planning.

  • Built around reality, not ideals

Our models are designed for genuinely irregular earners, not adapted from tools built for salaried budgets.

  • Transparency in every output

Every risk figure or projection we present is explainable — we don't believe in black-box numbers that users are expected to simply trust.

Principles that guide how we build

These aren't abstract ideals — they shape the product decisions we make and the way we communicate with the people who rely on Nihonium.

Honesty in Uncertainty

We never present a projection as a guarantee. Where there is uncertainty in the data, we show it rather than hide it behind a confident-looking number.

Designed for the Overlooked

Remote and variable-income professionals are often an afterthought in financial tools. We design specifically for them, not as an edge case.

Continuous Refinement

Income patterns evolve, and so should the tools that analyse them. We treat our platform as a living system, not a finished product.

A small, focused team

Nihonium is run by a compact team spanning product design, data analysis, and platform engineering. We stay deliberately lean so that decisions about the product remain close to the people actually using it.
